ENROLMENT

The school wishes to provide the following information for those seeking enrolment at Edmund Rice Secondary School:

FORM ONE: There are two main opportunities for seeking Form One enrolment at Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary.

The first offers of places foor the following year will be made following the initial Entrance Interview Tests which will take place at the school on the fourth Saturday in October at 9.00 am and/or 11.00 am. Details of this are available on the Application Form - see details below for obtaining a copy of this Form.

The list of successful candidates from these initial Entrance Interview Tests will be published at the school and in the Enrolment Information section of the website within the first week after the Interview Interview. Acceptances of places offered must be made by the date specified in the Joining Instructions - otherwise the offer is withdrawn and the place becomes available for the second round of offers.

The second opportunity for receiving an offer of a place in Form One occurs in the first week of January with the second sitting of the Entrance Interview Tests to take place on the Wednesday at the school at 9.00 am and/or 11.00 am. Details of this are available on the Application Form - see details below for obtaining a copy of this Form.

The list of successful candidates from this second sitting of the Entrance Interview Tests will be published at the school and in the News or Enrolment Information section of the website within three days of the Entrance Interview Test. Acceptance of places offered must be made by the date specified in the Joining Instructions - otherwise the offer is withdrawn and the place becomes available for students on our Waiting List or late applicants who will also be required to sit for the Entrance Interview Test.

Late applications may be made but the availability of places is very doubtful as the school receives many more applications than places available.

FORMS TWO, THREE and FOUR: A few places may be available in Forms Two, Three and Four though a place in Boarding or Hostel will be extremely difficult to get. Students willing to be Day students will have the best chance of being offered a place in the school.

Entrance Interview Tests for Forms Two, Three and Four will take place on the Wednesday of the first week of January at the school at 11.00 am. Details of this are available on the Application Form - see details below for obtaining a copy of this Form.

The list of successful candidates from this sitting of the Entrance Interview Tests will be published at the school and in the News or Enrolment section of the website within three days of the Tests. Acceptances of places offered must be made by the date specified in the Joining Instructions - otherwise the offer is withdrawn and the place becomes available for students on our Waiting List or late applicants who will also be required to sit for the Interview Entrance Test.

Late applications may be made but the availability of places is very doubtful as the school receives many more applications than the places available.

FORM FIVE: The school has places for about 270 Form Five students with boarding being available for 70about 80 girls and 140 boys while the remaining students are day students.

No student will be considered for a place in Form Five without having obtained the requirements of Tanzanian legislation, currently at least three credits (ie C grade or better) - and preferably four or more - in their Form Four examinations. Nor will any student be considered for a place without having attended the school for an interview with a senior member of the administration.

Interviews will take place soon after the publication of Form Four results and will take place on school days from late February until mid- to late. The first list of students who are offered places will be published at the school and in the News or Enrolment section of the website from mid-March.

Students offered places must fulfil the requirements (outlined in the Joining Instructions) with regard to acceptance of a place by the stipulated date - about one week after offers are made public. Otherwise the place is forfeited and will be offered to another student in a second round of offers in late March.

This list of second round offers will also be published at the school and in the News or Enrolment section of the website. Students offered these places must fulfil the enrolment requirements by the date stipulated in the Joining Instructions - otherwise the place is forfeited and will be offered to other applicants in a third round of offers or to late applicants.

At the commencement of school, the third round of offers will be made and the same instructions with regard to acceptance must be followed.

Depending upon the time at which Easter occurs, classes will start in late March or early April.

FORM SIX: A few places may be available in some of the combinations - but boarding is unlikely as current students will take up most if not all of the 220 places available (80 girls and 140 boys) available for Form Six students.

Interview examinations (in the three subjects of the proposed Combination) and personal interviews will take place at the school in mid-March on a date specified on the Application Form or available from the school. The examination will take three hours. The list of students who are offered places will be published at the school within three days of the sitting of the examination.

Students offered places must fulfil the requirements (outlined in the Joining Instructions) with regard to acceptance of a place by the stipulated date. Otherwise the place is forfeited and may be offered to another student in a second round of offers in late March.
